BALLET POINT INTENSIVE
June 18th-29th, 2012 from 10:00am – 2:30pm
Our Classical Ballet Program has been developed in order to ex-pose the student to the best of the re- nowned ballet disciplines. Incorporating these ballet techniques into the class- room instruction provides the dancer with the proper placement, alignment and fundamental technique necessary to develop and grow artistically.
BALLET CLASS BEGINNING LEVEL I & II
BALLET CLASS INTERMEDIATE LEVEL III
Depending on previous training the student will be placed in the appropriate level .Dancers will continue to work on expanding and improving their technique and vocabulary .These classes will begin with a non weight bearing floor barre and continue on to barre and center practice.

PRE-POINTE
This class is designed to focus on the muscles of abdominals, legs, ankles and feet in preparation for dancing on pointe. Some of this class will be done barefoot to emphasize the articulation of the food, and some of the class will be done in soft shoe. Therabands may also be used as a strengthening tool. *Please note this is NOT a pointe class and taking this class does not mean your child is ready for pointe work.
POINTE
Students must be at least 11 years old and possess the necessary muscular strength in order to participate in this class. It is recommended that the students have completed at least 3 years of formal training to be considered for placement in this class, ( formal training is at least 3 hrs of ballet per week).
We will have a audition class the first day of the session to insure each dancer is placed in the class most suited for the students level.
MODERN & JAZZ
Modern: Modern dance is a creative, expressive style of dance focusing on balance, center, and extension. At Pennsylvania Dance Institute we combine many techniques including Graham, Limon, and Horton.
Jazz: Jazz technique develops strength, flexibility, coordination, and the controlled movement of each part of the body. Classes include a warm-up of stretching & isolations, center floor technique, and progressions and combinations.
CLOTHING
Leotard, Convertible Tights, Ballet Slippers. Hair must be neatly pulled back off the face and up in a bun.

TRIPLE THREAT THEATRICAL WORKSHOP
June 18th – 29th, 2012 from 6pm – 9pm
For young actors ages 14-18
This two week long program will allow young performers the opportunity to advance their talent and creativity in acting, singing, and dancing thus becoming that “triple threat”. Students will be taught by professionals from all three fields, who will advise and nurture the students to excel in their craft while gaining training and knowledge to make them that “one singular sensation”.
The program will encompass
*Improvisation work
*Scene and song study (understanding the character you are playing and learning how to connect with the material you are acting)
*Dance instruction – focusing on classical and current musical theater styles of dance
*Dance combinations containing original Broadway choreography
*Audition techniques to help land every audition from local school theater, college auditions, to summer stock
*Complimentary head shot (by a professional photographer)
*Resume work
*Overall instruction to help cultivate one’s abilities in the theater world
The program will culminate in a relaxed musical review entitled “Broadway Through the Ages” in which family and friends can observe the performer’s talents through scene work, songs, and show stopping musical numbers!
**All levels are encouraged to enroll. NO audition required for acceptance into the workshop. **
**Please be prepared to act, sing, and dance/move at every session. **

SUMMER DANCE CAMP
June 13th-17th, 2012 from 10:00am - 12.30pm.
We invite all boys and girls ages 4-9 to join us this summer at our studio location as we host our annual Dance Camp! Boys will enjoy an Action-Hero- themed session and girls will enjoy a Princess Fairy-themed session.
Both include the following:
- Creative Movement class, complete with stretching and introduction to basic dance concepts
- Nutritious snack provided daily
- Daily art project with all materials included
- Experienced staff with background in Education
- The Pennsylvania Dance Institute
The Princess Fairy Dance Camp is designed for all the little girls who dream of being a princess. We will explore movement, music, and projects, all with an emphasis on both classic and new fairy tales. At the end of the week we will have a small performance for the parents.
Ages 4-9yrs June 13th– June 17th 10am-12:30pm

The Action Hero Camp is designed for boys to develop and support their creativity. We will explore movement through music and dance. Arts and crafts will portray the theme of the day. At the end we will have a small performance for the parents.
